Beach Trip 2010

Every year, Nate's family goes to Carlsbad, CA for a week-long beach trip. It was especially entertaining/busy/wonderful this year because almost all of his siblings & their children were there, minus Julina (aka Hermana Hastings serving in Houston, TX).

The girls had an absolute blast, playing nonstop from sunup to sundown with cousins, visiting with grandmas, grandpa, aunts, uncles, and eating all sorts of treats that are usually off-limits or simply unavailable.

Sydney's favorite activites that were new to her this year included going rafting in the ocean & boogie boarding, both of which made excellent Daddy/daughter memories. Sydney joined the ranks of the book-readers on the beach this year - she brought a couple of Cam Jansen books and The Secret Garden (kids version). Holly loved playing all sorts of games with little cousins she rarely gets to see, and I loved watching it all. Emily and I spent most of our time on the beach sitting under a sun shade, loving the smells, sounds and fun of the beach. Nate was an incredible support for me, making it possible for me to come along and enjoy the ride with a new baby in tow. He spent his time on the beach primarily with the older two girls, but also squeezed in some reading, relaxing in the sun, and participating in other beach activities.

So much thanks & love goes to Grandma Christensen for making thie trip possible for all the family, but especially to Nate's parents for their unrelenting energy, patience, efforts and love that utlimately made this week memorable and happy for all.

No way! We go to Carlsbad every year with Jesse's family...although we camp at the state beach. Love, love, love it. Maybe someday our trips will coincide! :)
